Belt color and rank are used as guidelines to determine your progress. To obtain a color rank the student must complete a rank test. The type and difficulty of the test reflects the rank for which you will be testing. (I:E) A black belt test is very arduous in comparison to the test of a 10th Gup yellow belt test.

Students at USA Taekwondo are tested on the following 5 requirements:

1) Student report

2) Poomse (Taekwondo Form)

3) Han Bon Gyuroogi (Fighting Form)

4) Kyokpa ( Board breaking technique)

5) Gyuroogi (Sparring)

The student will be reviewed three (3) times earning a stripe each time before they will be recommended for testing. A student that has earned all three stripes is eligible for belt testing and promotion.
