The art of Taekwondo began in ancient Korea and has a history that dates back Two Thousand years. During the Korean occupation, it became illegal for Koreans to practice the ancient art of Soo bak, however it was taught secretly and handed down from masters to students at the risk of imprisonment.

After the liberation of Korea, The Korean Tae Kwon Do Association (KTA) was formed in 1961 and masters traveled all over the world to spread the art . In 1973 the World Taekwondo Association (WTF) was formed to serve as the governing body for the growth of Korea’s martial art.

The greatest achievement of the WTF was the introduction of Taekwondo as an Olympic sport. Taekwondo practitioners worldwide can now strive to achieve an Olympic ranking.

Today Taekwondo has continued to evolve with the passage of time but the timeless tenets of the sport remains the same, Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control, and Indomitable sprit.
